Google Introduces Free Blue Tick on Gmail and Google Brands to Prevent Counterfeiting
Google has launched a free Blue Tick Verification feature for Gmail and other Google brands to combat phishing attacks and scams. The program, known as Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI), was tested in 2021 and provides verified users and organizations with a blue checkmark next to their sender name. Once the receiver hovers over the checkmark, a blurb appears that confirms the sender's ownership of the domain and logo in their profile photo.
For whom Blue Tick on Gmail ?
The blue checkmark will be available to all Google Workspace customers, personal Google account users, and legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers.
Is Blue Tick for Gmail is Free ?
As more companies adopt BIMI, the Blue Tick will become increasingly common and help users identify legitimate messages from impersonators. The verification feature adds an extra layer of protection against scammers and fraudsters and increases confidence in email sources.
In contrast to other social media platforms that are testing paid verification options, Google's Blue Tick is currently free.
